Mark Eddy McDonald, age 71, passed away at his home in Orderville, Utah after a valiant fight with cancer. Born July 27, 1949 in Kanab, Utah to Findley and Maxine McDonald, Eddy spent his childhood working and playing with his brothers on the Arizona desert and at the family ranch near Alton, Utah. After graduating from Dayton High School class of 1967, in Dayton, Washington, he followed the footsteps of his brother Jay and enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. After returning home to Kanab, Utah from his service in Vietnam, where he proudly served his country for 3.5 years, he met and married his Sweetheart and Eternal Companion Peggy DeMille. They eloped to Las Vegas, Nevada on July 24,1971 and were later sealed for all eternity in the St. George Temple on August 29, 1992.
After working several years on the road, Eddy moved his family home to Kanab, Utah. He went into business with his brothers at McDonald Brothers Construction. He spent the next 30 years working construction. In 1982, Eddy enlisted into the AZ National Guard as an Ammunition Specialist. He later transferred to the Utah National Guard where he did Survey for the 2-222nd FA, until his retirement in 2000. He continued working for Pullman Power out of Kansas City, MO, as a Chimney Superintendent until his retirement in 2013, when he and Peggy returned home to Orderville, Utah to become farmers. Following retirement Eddy and Peggy enjoyed fishing, glamping, hunting, following their grandchildren to activities and spending time in his shop.
In the fall of 2015, Eddy was diagnosed with CNS Brain Cancer and fought a courageous battle for the last 5.5 years.
He is survived by his sweetheart Peggy; their 5 children Tiffanie (Rhett) Jackson of Gunnison, Utah, Cody (Angie)McDonald of Kanab, Mandy (Seth) Giddings of Kanab, Anthony (Hailee) McDonald of Cedar City, Utah, and Brady (Keisha) McDonald of Gunnison, Utah; 2 brothers Jay (Carolyn) McDonald, and Robert McDonald; and 19 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine and Findley McDonald; in-laws Dorothy and Smokey DeMille; sister Judy Mowbray; brother Gary McDonald; and nephews Greg Mowbray, Daran Mowbray, and Michael McDonald.
Services will be May 1, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Orderville LDS Church. Viewings will be Friday April 30 from 7:00-8:00 PM at Mosdell Mortuary, Kanab, Utah, and Saturday 11:00 am – 12:30 p.m. at the Orderville LDS Church. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Utah Cemetery. Services arranged with Mosdell Mortuary.
