In the early morning hours of June 16, 2023, our sweet mother, Terre Mae Veater Hadean, passed away peacefully after a short battle from a stroke. She was 86 years old. She was the mother of 3 beautiful children, grandmother to 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren with one more on the way.
Terre was born in Panguitch, Utah on November 15, 1936 to Clark Veater and Dora Henrie (Veater). She was raised in Escalante, Utah where she helped her family homestead out on the Sody, and raise cattle. Many beautiful memories were made out on the Sody including carving out stairs on the sandstone behind the cabin with her brother Val. She was a second mother to all her younger siblings. After leaving Escalante, they moved to Liberty, Utah where they continued to ranch. They later moved to Salina, Utah where her father owned and trained race horses. During her high school years she was the rodeo queen multiple times. She was a talented musician, and was able to play the organ, accordion, guitar, piano and ukulele.
Terre moved to Salt Lake City where she owned and operated a beauty salon at the Little America Hotel, and at the Ramada. After she finished working at the beauty salon, she began to drive diesel trucks until she moved to Kanab. In Kanab she continued to drive trucks, she worked at the local grocery store and sang at the Territorial Inn with her brother, Val and her sister Arva. She also sang during the Western Legends event in summer. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and loved the friendships she had with her ward members.
Terre is preceded in death by her parents, Clark and Dora, her sisters Arva and Connie and three brothers, Vallon, Dan Devon, and Jim. She is also preceded in death by Sherman Christofferson, Donald Anderson and Sidney Hadean.
