Doran Lamb

Doran Rolland Lamb was called home to his Heavenly Father on October 29th, 2021. Doran went the way he would have chosen with hay in his hands, his wife by his side, and surrounded by this year’s crop of calves. He died with his boots on and that was important to him.
Doran loved the land. He spent his life as a rancher and a farmer. He loved the Arizona strip and believed his piece of property was the best private ranch in the area. He worked hard farming multiple fields in the Valley. Doran expected one thing from his children, that they learn to work. His children spent many great days working with their father, and each in turn learned to love the land, especially that piece on the Arizona strip.
The fall was Doran’s favorite time of year; it was time to hunt deer and move cattle from the summer to winter range. Doran instilled in his boys his love of hunting and cattle. We had just finished deer camp with a conversation that Doran was the last of the old guard. They are now all gone, but deer camp will continue in their memory.
Doran loved his daughters; he taught them to ride and ranch. He loved to watch them play sports. One of the only things that could interrupt his farming was watching his kids play sports.
Doran was born November 1st, 1935. He would have been 86 on the 1st. He was born to Rolland and Belva Lamb (both proceeded him in death). He was taught the love of the land by his father, who he worked the ranch and farm with until his father passed. He was taught the love of education by his mother who came to Orderville as a teacher. Doran spend 29 years teaching at Valley High School in Orderville. He enjoyed teaching youth skills as a shop teacher and as the FFA advisor. If you were unruly in his class, you had the opportunity to educate a pole.
Doran married Lois Lynn Tait on April 12, 1958. She was the love of his life. Doran and Lois had six children Bret and Lynette Lamb, Dorene Lamb (proceed him in death), DeLynn and Margaret Lamb, James and Darnea Lamb, Lynnette and Karl Spencer, and Erin and Brian Bettridge. They have 21 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
Doran is survived by siblings Rosalie (Garn Esplin -deceased), Sherrill and Diane Lamb, and Hal and Linda Lamb. He was the oldest.
